- (Bad article) https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/08/opinions/gender-reveal-party-california-fire-destruction-hope/index.html
This article spoke of the current wildfires in Oregon that were sparked by a detonation at a gender reveal party. In my opinion, the author used this and a few other examples of gender reveals gone wrong in an attempt to try and “cancel” these types of parties. The reason I say this is because the party itself is not something that can lead to life threatening accidents. Instead of questioning the parties, the author should have questioned the sanity and responsibility of those whom host them. Also, her interpretation of a gender reveal party appears to be off as she says it makes an effort to “reinforce inequity” towards the trans community. All in all, I feel like this article can be seen as a propaganda piece to try and bash gender reveal parties and their hosts.
2. (Good article) https://www.newsweek.com/new-york-crime-rise-shootings-1524917
This article was a great piece of literature because it did a great job at debunking the myth that the New York City crime rates are at the same level as they were in the 70’s and 80’s. The author explains how although we should still be worried on the rise in crime, the claim that we are returning to the “good ol’days” is just a form of fear mongering that is only causing public panic.
3. (Article I found interesting) https://www.essentiallysports.com/tennis-news-atp-the-anger-comes-out-of-control-former-wta-professional-on-novak-djokovics-disqualification/
This article covered the controversial disqualification of Novak Djokovic in the US Open. In my honest opinion, him being banned was a bit of an over reaction because he apologized numerous times to the official that he struck with a tennis ball, and it was made clear that his actions were not intentional.

Thanks Raymond! Do you think that the article about the gender reveal party is a bad article because of its reasoning, because you think it’s propaganda, or both? What do you think makes something “propaganda” instead of “opinion”?
